Operated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) through its Asia and Pacific Research Center (APRC), Science Japan aims to contribute to the center's goal of the promotion of fruitful exchanges and mutual understanding and expanding and deepening of science and technology cooperation between Japan and the Asia and Pacific region through its digital content.

We aim to serve as a portal for science communication and public understanding of research in Japan, including wider regional science and technology cooperation between Japan, Asia and the Pacific regions. We also promote international brain circulation, highlighting the research achievements of foreign nationals working in STI in Japan. By making Japan's scientific achievements accessible to international audiences, Science Japan aims to foster partnerships and increase communication across borders.

Science Japan is managed by the Asia and Pacific Research Center (APRC), part of JST, a national R&D funding agency organization involved with achieving the goals of Japan's science policy. JST also provides support for global collaboration. Since its reorganization in 2003, JST has played a central role in advancing Japan's research capabilities and building international networks for science, technology and innovation.
