A weeklong event began on Wednesday in Osaka to mark the first anniversary of last year's World Expo opening in the western Japanese city, featuring exhibits showcasing repurposed pavilion construction materials, as well as a booth offering an original stamp of the popular mascot, Myaku-Myaku.

Advanced technologies featured at the expo, which attracted over 25 million visitors during its six-month run ending in October 2025, are explained in exhibits held outside of Osaka Metro's Yumeshima Station near the venue.
The commemorative rubber ink stamp features Myaku-Myaku, a mysterious, red-and-blue creature riding a train. Visitors can stamp it on train-ticket-style cards that read "Bound for the Future," which are available for them to take home as souvenirs.

A mother from Otsu came to the event with her child. "It was fun getting the stamp. I wished I could go to the expo again," said 8-year-old Hinano Kusunose, who had visited the 2025 Expo over 10 times last year.
